Voyeur
By Fiona Cole
“Being in that room
caused me to have stupid feelings. Feelings I needed to walk away from and
ignore. I needed to move past the stupid crush and focus on school.
Maybe if I said
enough, my heart would stop trying to pound out of my chest every time I saw
him.”
Okay, so maybe I'm on
my own here, but this is my first EVER teacher and student romance!! And I have
to say that Fiona Cole absolutely K I L L E D it! Honestly, just based on the teaser
I had such high expectations/hopes for this book—and they were totally
exceeded.
The chemistry between
Oaklyn and Callum is palpable and tense, and from the moment I realized their
connection I was rooting for them. I mean, before anything was even happening I
was like YASSS. Fiona, that was all you honey!
Callum, despite all
his twists and flaws, is a freaking dream. His love for Oaklyn is so intense
that I knew he loved her before he even admitted it to himself. The haunted
past is a trope that can seem really overdone, but it is handled with grace and
mastery in this novel! I mean, I literally wanted to hug Callum all the time. (and not just because he's
scrumptious)
BUT Oaklyn!! Now,
this is where I felt the novel really shone. Oaklyn is complicated in the
realest sense! She is so unbelievably relatable, and that’s something that I really
appreciate in a book character. She does exactly what she has to in order to
make ends meet—and she doesn’t f***ing apologize for it! THANK YOU Fiona for
giving us a sexually empowered female who embraces what she does! Even though
Oaklyn is working at Voyeur out of necessity, she rocks that role, and there’s
a reason Callum can't keep his eyes off of her.
When the world
collided I was SQUEAING!
Holy. Shit.
This romance was hot,
amazing, and goose bump inducing in every way!
“Getting himself
under control, his eyes were no longer blank when he looked at me. The blue
almost glowed in the dimly lit room. I took an involuntary step back as his
gaze raked over me, each inch of my body igniting with his stare.
‘Oaklyn, trust me
when I tell you I see you as anything but a teenager. Anything but my student.”
I MEAN?!!!
Okay, shit gets
absolutely wild when student and teacher F I N A L L Y say fuck it and decide the chemistry between them means more than they're
giving it credit for, and when they decide to start trusting their instincts
the two of them both start to experience a healing they’ve never known before.
Fiona Cole SLAYED
this novel. She killed the romance, the backstory, the humor, and the sex
scenes!! (not easy). I’m impressed, I’m shook, and I can't wait for every
single one of you to pick up this novel.
